Filing a Tax Appeal With the County

Once you receive the postcard in the mail (sometime around February) showing the current assessed value of your property, you may file an appeal with the Bergen County Board of Taxation.

To pick up and file an application for a tax appeal, you must go to:

You must provide copies of your tax appeal application, along with any supporting documents, to the following offices:
1. County Tax Board (with the filing fee)
2. Ridgefield Park Tax Assessor's Office
3. Ridgefield Park Village Clerk
The Ridgefield Park Tax Assessor's Office and the Village Clerk are located at 234 Main Street, Ridgfield Park.

DEADLINE FOR FILING AN APPEAL IS APRIL 1ST.  Your appeal must be received (not merely postmarked) by the County Board of Taxation on or before this date or 45 days from the date mailed, as it appears on the front of the postcard, whichever date is later.

The County Board of Taxation will provide more detailed instructions for filing your appeal application.
