2023 9th Annual Health Fair - Slide Show

In case you missed the Ninth Annual Health Fair, here is slideshow of all that was on display. Sponsored by the Sustainable Ridgefield Park Green Team, together with St. Francis and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 2271, the Knights of Columbus Council 2229  and Academy of Greatness and Excellence, this year's Health Fair featured over 80 vendors and a Blood Drive hosted by the American Red Cross .  This year's Health Fair was held at the Knights of Columbus and the Academy of Greatness and Excellence. The Blood Drive took place in the lower level of the Knights of  Columbus.

"The combination of environmental stewardship, social equity and fiduciary responsibility to support healthy, equitable and resilient environments and communities is just one of the many goals we have for the Village of Ridgefield Park," said Leslie Olson, Chair of Sustainable Ridgefield Park. "We cannot thank all the health organizations and vendors enough, for taking the time to participate and highlight their health care services at this year's health fair. Their participation creates awareness, provides education and helps promote a healthier lifestyle, on many levels, for the residents of Ridgefield Park."

In addition to the Health Fair, the Red Cross conducted a successful Blood Drive that attracted approximately 30 donors that donated blood. There were 5 Power Red donors. With a Power Red donation you can give nearly twice the amount of red cells, which help more patients, This type of donation uses an automated process that separates a donors red blood cells from the other blood components, and then safely and comfortably returns  plasma and platelets back to the donor.

In total, 28 pints of blood were collected = 84 lives saved!  You can save 3 lives with one blood donation! Each unit donated (about 1 pint) can be divided into three primary components – red blood cells, plasma, and platelets – saving up to three lives.

If you missed the Blood Drive and wish to donate blood, please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit https://www.redcrossblood.org/ to become a donor.

If you missed this year's Health Fair, just remember that next year's Health Fair will be held in October of 2024.

Our thanks to all who participated in Ninth Annual Health Fair and Blood Drive.  Remember to bring a friend next year.
