The Heavy Rescue Squad responded to a record number of calls for service in 2007. Keep watching for updates. Click here to email the squad  OUR OLD “WORKHORSE” – Retired in 1995  Truck 530 Our current emergency response vehicle is 35-feet long and manufactured by Seagrave. Among its features are a ten-ton winch and a 9,000-watt lighting mast. The various compartments contain enough tools and equipment to handle any emergency situation including vehicle extrications, high-angle and water rescue. The Rescue Squad, founded in 1951 as a Civil Defense unit serving the Village, has expanded its original mission to become an integral part of the municipal emergency services. Each member of the Squad is required to complete an 80-hour Heavy Rescue Certification course and must serve a six month probationary period before becoming a regular member. Some members are also certified fire fighters. The Rescue Squad building, dedicated in 1976, is located in Brewster Park near the intersection of State Highway Route 46 and Main Street.
