We are aware that federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have recently been active in some communities, including areas in New Jersey. These actions have taken place without notice and have caused fear and uncertainty for many families.
The Mayor and Board of Commissioners want to be very clear: Ridgefield Park is a community built by immigrants, and our diversity makes us stronger. We are deeply concerned about the stress and worry these enforcement actions may cause our residents. We want our immigrant neighbors to know that you are valued, you belong here, and the Village stands with you.
The Village of Ridgefield Park remains committed to keeping our community safe, welcoming, and united. The Ridgefield Park Police Department does not enforce civil immigration laws and does not ask about immigration status during everyday interactions. This follows New Jersey law and the Attorney General’s Immigrant Trust Directive, which is designed to build trust between residents and local government.
Help is available for anyone who is feeling affected or distressed. Municipal services, community organizations, and nonprofit partners are ready to support residents in need. We encourage anyone with questions or concerns to reach out to trusted local organizations and legal resources.
