The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Bergen County from 3AM Sunday 1/25 through 6PM Monday 1/26. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions and plan accordingly.
EXPECTED CONDITIONS:
- Snow accumulation: 6-10 inches, with locally higher amounts possible
- Heaviest snowfall: Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening
- Snowfall rates: 1-2 inches per hour with reduced visibility
- Temperatures: Low to mid 20s during the day, 10-15 degrees at night
- Wind chill values: 0°F to 5°F
- Monday morning commute will be hazardous and slippery
SNOW PARKING ORDINANCE WILL BE ENFORCED
When snow covers our streets, parking is prohibited on designated snow emergency streets to allow DPW crews to plow safely and effectively. Vehicles parked in violation may be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense. Vehicles parked on designated streets WILL be ticketed and towed. Move your vehicle before snowfall begins. SAFETY REMINDERS:
- Stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary
- If you must travel, use extreme caution and reduce speed
- Clear fire hydrants near your property of snow and ice
- Bring pets indoors and ensure they have adequate shelter, food, and water
- Check on elderly neighbors and those with special needs
- Keep emergency supplies on hand (flashlights, batteries, water, non-perishable food)
- Never use a generator indoors or in enclosed spaces
