April 22 - Earth Day Slide Show

Sustainable Ridgefield Park and the Ridgefield Park Department of Public Works would like to thank all the residents of the village for coming out to support the Paper Shredding, Hard Plastic Collection/Battery Collection, and the donation of slightly used toys that will find an new home through Second Chance Toys

In case you missed the April 22 events there will be another Free Paper Shredding, Hard Plastic Collection and Second Chance Toys Collection event held on October 21, 2023, from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the DPW garage in the Village of Ridgefield Park located on 24 Industrial Avenue.. This event will take place rain or shine.

Besides protecting yourself from identity theft, did you know that shredding is good for the environment.  Shredding companies make sure that the shredded paper gets appropriately recycled. After shredding, the material gets pressed in large paper bales. This material is then used as raw material for the tissue industry. This means that there is a good chance that your old tax report is shredded, recycled, and used as raw material to make a roll of toilet paper.

When it comes to hard plastics, non-bottle rigid plastics are also readily recyclable. Unfortunately, not all county and borough councils are equipped to recycle them. Often these types of plastics end up in landfill waste. However, Sustainable Ridgefield Park, has found a recycler willing to take whatever the Village collects over time.  Why the Village cannot provide curbside pickup for hard plastics, its been successful in collecting a container of  hard plastics during the April 22 event.  Please begin to collect and save these plastics for our next collection on October 21, 2023.

Thank you for doing your part to help make Ridgefield Park a greener and a better place to live. We hope to see you in October. In the meantime, enjoy some of the photos from the April 22 paper shredding, hard plastic collection events, and Second Chance Toys collection.  Should you have any questions regarding this initiative, please contact us at [email protected].
