Village Letter Dear Friends: Thanks for your help in signing post cards to be sent to the Governor. I am pleased to report that RP sent 470 post cards. RP was the third highest post card collection point in Bergen County. Way to go. February will be a special month as the State Library, New Jersey Library Association, and Barnes & Noble have partnered for "Love Your Library" month. Every purchase made by every customer every day in February at every Barnes & Noble in New Jersey will generate funds to support the 2008 public library summer reading program in every NJ library as long as the customer has a program voucher. We have loads of vouchers available at the library and they can also be downloaded from http://www.njla.org So if you'd like to share the love you have for your library and its children's programs, please make it a point to obtain a voucher and make a trip to Barnes & Noble during February. If you find yourself without plans on Monday evening (Feb. 4), consider coming to the library to meet and listen to the highly acclaimed Joshua Henkin, author of "Matrimony" which is one of the New York Times's 100 most notable books of 2007. A limited number of copies of "Matrimony" will be available for sale and Henkin will autograph these and your personal copy if you already own one. The program begins at 7:15 and we'll be serving refreshments as well. BCCLS libraries are planning our second round of BCCLS Chat--an online dialogue with the public we serve. We want the public to have a forum at which they can make suggestions, share their wishes, their wildest dreams for library service, and offer a venue at which they can articulate what they want from their library. We view this as a real opportunity to learn what our patrons like and, yes, what they don't like about the way library service works for them in the BCCLS environment. Chats will be held online on Wed., Feb., 6 at 2:00 p.m. and on Thurs., Feb. 7 at 7:00 p.m. The dates are: Wednesday, February 6 at 2pm and Thursday, February 7 at 7pm. I'll be there and I hope some of you will be as well. Finally, in addition to closing for President's Day on Mon., Feb. 18, the library will also be closed on Saturday, February 9 because of repair work being done on the front stairs.
