Adult Programs
English As A Second Language
The Ridgefield Park Library partners with the Ciarco Center of Bergen Community College and the Ridgefield Park school district to provide free English as a Second Language classes for residents of Bergen County.
Prospective students must report for two evenings of testing and evalulation. Once assigned to a class, students are expected to attend class at either the Ridgefield Park Junior-Senior High School or at the Ridgefield Park Public Library on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Dates for testing and for classes will be announced in the Ridgefield Park Patriot as well as on flyers at the Ridgefield Park Library.
Local history
For many years the library has been collecting artifacts,photographs, and information concerning the history of the Village. Through the generosity of Gregory Olsen, the library now has a local history room which is devoted to these materials. A committee of Village residents, headed by Library Trustee Steven Frimmer, is currently working on organizing and indexing the existing materials and we hope to be able to begin offering access to this collection in the near future. We hope to be able to offer glimpses of our holdings through this web site in the coming months.

Personal Computers
The Library offers personal computers for use by the public. Our personal computers offer access to the Internet as well as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Word Perfect. Computers can be used for 30 minute sessions and the length of the session can be extended as long as no one is waiting. We also have an Internet express station in the adult department whose use is restricted to five minute sessions for checking email, etc.
The Children’s department offers similar access for children. Those under the age of 18 must have a parental permission form on file in order to be able to independently sign on for Internet access. Those in grades six and under use the computers in the children’s department and those in grades seven and above use the computers in the adult department.
There is no charge for using the Library’s personal computers, but those wishing to print materials are charged 10 cents per page for black and white printing and 35 cents a page for printing in color.
Book Discussion
Have you ever read a book and felt that you might want to talk to someone else about it?
Would you like to share your thoughts about what you’ve read? If so, the Ridgefield Park Library Book Discussion Group (BDG) is your answer. The Book Discussion Group meets from January through October. The groups range between 5 and 15 people and meet either Monday evening at 7:30 PM or Friday morning at 10:00 AM for just over one hour. The books are supplied by the Library and are distributed with discussion questions at each meeting.
