Ridgefield Park Police Department Updates
On June 26th, 2008, Sergeant Albert J Brooks worked his last day of patrol for the
Village of Ridgefield Park. Sgt. Brooks was sworn in on August 8, 1978 and began
the Bergen County Police Academy in September, 1978. Al served many years as
a volunteer for the Ridgefield Park Ambulance Corps. Besides his unusual sense
of humor, Al Brooks is best known for his duties as a canine handler with his
faithful German Shepherd partner, Nero. Al and Nero distinguished themselves
not only in trial competition, but in real-life dramas. Al and Nero were well known
about the county and state and were called upon by multitudes of police agencies
for their assistance. Al later served in the Detective Bureau before returning to the
Patrol Division as a Sergeant. Besides the Police Department and the Ambulance
Corps, Al also served as delegate to P.B.A. Local 86 until the time of his
promotion. We wish Al a long and healthy retirement.
On September 26th, 2008, an appreciation dinner was held in honor of Linda
Duncan who had worked for the Village of Ridgefield Park for over 40 years. Linda
retired on June 1, 2008 after working many of those years in the Police
Department’s Record Bureau. Linda is a lifelong resident of Ridgefield Park and
the daughter of the late Mickey Duncan former head of the Ridgefield Park DPW.
We miss Linda and wish her well in her retirement!!
The Ridgefield Park Police Department would like to announce the reassignment
of Police Dispatcher Courtney Fitzpatrick to the Police Records Bureau. Courtney
replaces Linda Duncan and joins Cindy Abissi in Records. Courtney will also
continue to assist the dispatch unit by filling in when necessary.
Emergency Notification System is now in place.
