Silver Certification Awarded to Sustainable RP

Sustainable RP Earns Sustainable Jersey Silver Certification
 and Creativity & Innovation Award

For the fourth consecutive year, Sustainable Ridgefield Park has earned Sustainable Jersey's Silver certification.

Sustainable Jersey’s certified municipalities are national leaders in implementing solutions to key sustainability challenges. From efforts to reduce waste, cut greenhouse gas emissions, improve public health, stimulate local economies, increase resiliency and progress toward an equitable society, the actions completed by Sustainable Jersey communities have made a significant contribution.

The Village of Ridgefield is one of nine Bergen County municipalities and one of 70 New Jersey's municipalities to achieve Silver certification.

In addition to the Silver certification, Sustainable Ridgefield Park received the Sustainability Jersey's Creativity & Innovation Award. This award recognizes a forward-thinking municipality that supports a culture of creativity and innovation as it implements new approaches to solving problems.

Ridgefield Park joined Bogota, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Hackensack, Oakland, and Oradell in receiving individual awards in this category

These seven towns are active in the Bergen County Sustainability Hub and members of Creative Bergen. They work together using creative placemaking to enhance the quality of life within their communities and across the county by hosting multi-town/multi-day events to celebrate the arts and local artists and performers. Most recently, they hosted the first Busking Festival in Bergen County in which several towns sent their top street performers to perform in a free, day-long event. Members of this collaborative initiated a mentor program for any green teams interested in implementing Sustainable Jersey’s suite of Arts & Creative Community actions.

In accepting the award, Leslie Olson, Chair of Sustainable Ridgefield Park said, “This award is a powerful achievement for the arts, and we believe it will provide Creative Bergen greater placemaking opportunities with local supporters and give us greater access to planning future events and activities in our local towns and neighborhoods along with helping municipalities interested in pursuing Arts and Creative Culture actions for their Sustainable Jersey program.”
