RECALL OF PRODUCTS CONTAINING PEANUT BUTTER

Through epidemiologic investigations in combination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), state officials received positive confirmation of the source of the national salmonella outbreak.

Peanut butter and peanut butter paste manufactured by the Peanut Corporation of America (PCA) and sold to wholesale manufacturer - neither product is sold directly to consumers.

However, there are hundreds of different products such as cookies, crackers, cereal, and ice cream that are potentially contaminated.

Companies all over the United States that have received product from PCA have issued voluntary recalls.

The FDA has created a searchable data base for these products at:
www.accessdata.fda.gov or www.fda.gov

The list is updated frequently.

If you find that you have these products:
  1. Discard them so that no one else will be able to eat them.
  2. If you think you may have eaten a recalled product and you are ill, call your physician at once.
Be advised that jars of peanut butter found in grocery stores are not affected by this recall.
