| NEWS June 1, 2008: BERGEN COUNTY BICYCLE TOUR "RIDE FOR FUN AND HEALTH" | BERGEN COUNTY BICYCLE TOUR "RIDE FOR FUN AND HEALTH"
Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney, along with the County's Department of Parks and the Bicycle Touring Club of North Jersey invite residents to participate in the 4th Annual Bergen County Bicycle Tour - "Ride For Fun and Health" on Sunday, June 1. "This is a great opportunity for families to come out and enjoy a scenic tour of Bergen County, while promoting a healthy lifestyle," said McNerney. "The Bicycle Tour is a perfect way to jumpstart your summer activities."
"This annual bicycle tour helps us create a countywide awareness about the importance of physical activity and wellness," stated Freeholder Vernon C. Walton. "Additionally, it serves to energize residents to take action to improve their health." The Bicycle Tour Ride is open to riders of all ages. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Everyone is required to wear safety helmets.
There will be various routes to meet all skill levels. FREE GIVEAWAYS including and a CHANCE TO WIN NEW CHILDREN'S BICYCLE. Tour also includes water, snacks and lunch. All routes will begin at the County Administration Building located at One Bergen County Plaza in Hackensack.
Riders can begin signing in at 7:00 a.m. Participants can choose one of the following four routes at these specified times:
45-mile at 8:00 a.m.
25-mile at 8:30 a.m.
12-mile at 9:00 a.m.
5-mile at 10:30 a.m.
There is a $5.00 fee per rider. Anyone interested in participating in the Bicycle Tour Ride can download registration forms by visiting the BTCNJ.com website or the Bergen County web site at www.co.bergen.nj.us or by calling the County at 201-336-7275. Registration forms and payments should be received by May 25.
Registration at the day of ride is also possible on June 1. |
