are Sponsoring the Ridgefield Park Tree Walk

RIDGEFIELD PARK, NJ---The Ridgefield Park Environmental Commission and Shade Tree Commission are sponsoring a Tree Walk on Saturday October 8, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The Tree Walk will begin in front of the Municipal Building located at 234 Main Street and will be conducted by Commissioner John H. Anlian. “This is a great opportunity for nature lovers to get a good view of the fall foliage and to learn about the 30 to 40 species of trees that are located throughout the village,” said Anlian.

Anlian, hopes the Tree Walk will also bring awareness to the work of both the Ridgefield Park Shade Tree Commission and the Environmental Commission. “Both these organizations have a love and concern for our environment,” said Anlian. “Trees are an important part of our ecosystem and help generate oxygen; recharge ground water and sustain stream flow; provide a habitat for a large variety of wildlife in our area as well as helping to reduce air and water pollution.”

Those interested in participating should wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes. There is no cost involved to participate. For additional information or to reserve a spot on the Tree Walk, email the Ridgefield Park Environmental Commission at RPEnvironmental@gmail.com.
